  • Maine-Wabanaki REACH’s 3rd annual Wabanaki Wellness Gathering will be held on Monday and Tuesday, October 10 and 11 at the Bingo Hall in Indian Township beginning at 9:00 am and we hope you can join us!
Monday learn about: REACH’s work, community initiatives related to wellness, food and medicine, and herbal flu research. If you have a community initiative that you are working on and want others to know about, we’d love for you to join in the sharing. More topics include rebuilding cooperative systems of food and medicine with Jonah Fertig of the Cooperative Development Institute, and Demystifying Accudetox with Jeri Singer.
Monday evening, enjoy a shared supper and drumming by the Huntley Brook Singers. What better way to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day than with drumming and singing!
The social is open to the general public. We will be raising funds and food for the Indian Township Food Pantry – so if you are able, bring a non-perishable food item or toiletry item to donate as “admission” to the social.
Food contributions toward the shared supper are welcomed but not required. Bring only if you are able – no worries!
Tuesday, hear how we are able to restore an ancient relationship with plants in our region with Suzanne Greenlaw; and Jus Crea Giammarino (Penobscot) returns for an information-packed presentation about Natural Medicines for Children followed by a medicine-making workshop in the afternoon.
Throughout both days there will be seated chair massages, healthy refreshments, organizations tabling, seed sharing, and more.
If you have vegetable or flower seeds to share, please bring them along, and take some new or different seeds home with you.
Join us and our partners AFSC Wabanaki Programs and Project LAUNCH for a fun and informative two days in Township!
Participating programs/organizations include: All Our Relations Thriving, Clear Light Holistic Midwifery, The Peoples’ Garden, Indian Township Food Pantry and Gardens, Micmac Farms, Cooperative Development Institute, Project LAUNCH, AFSC Wabanaki Programs, Wabanaki Health and Wellness, and more….
The Wabanaki Wellness Gathering is open to all Wabanaki, and our families, friends, and colleagues who work with us toward wellness in Wabanaki communities. The Monday evening social is open to the general public.
Our gatherings are a great way to celebrate Wabanaki ways of knowing and being. They have proven to be great opportunities for connecting with likeminded individuals who are working toward health and wellness in our tribal communities.
    HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
